Kaori's Testimony
Name: Kaori From: Japan Former Career: Teacher I became a Christian when I was studying in Seattle which is more than 10 years ago. After I became a Christian, my mom, maternal grandpa, grandma, and my uncle became Christian as well with God’s grace. Each of their salvations was miraculous. My uncle’s salvation is the most recent one. He got saved (or became a Christian) year and a half ago right after my grandpa went to heaven at the age of 96. He was so moved and impressed by the cerebration-like funeral of my grandfather. Although he knew nothing about Jesus nor Christianity, he simply thought that Christianity was the only way to heaven and he hoped to become a Christian. He was the worst kind of son to my grandparents and often loudly cursed at my grandparents to die. So, everybody thought that he would never go to heaven and even wished him to go to hell. But he changed so much. Before becoming a Christian, he almost never did any of housechores, but after he decided to follow Jesus, he began to do all the laundry and even cook dinner for my grandma(his own mother). Now my grandma is in hospital, but he often goes to see her bringing some fruits she loves and helps her to eat. Unbelievable! God does miracles! After I went back to Japan nine years ago, I got teacher’s license in my hometown, Fukuoka, and taught for 8 years at public high schools. First I was very eager to share my testimony, telling why and how I became a Christian. But as time passes, my eagerness to spread the gospel gradually faded out. But there was one thing I always did at the end of a year, which was writing a letter with personal message to every graduating student I taught that year. With that letter, I enclosed some loving message from Bible or at least the phrase of “God bless you.” Those students were so glad to receive such letters that every student I met after the graduation, they said that they still keep the letter I gave them. I needed to pray and ask God to help me write because I sometimes had to write for 170 students! I wasn’t a good Christian at all, in fact I tried to hide the fact that I was a Christian at school for the last 3 years of my teaching. But when I asked God to provide me a good church with detailed requests, he faithfully provided me, and often surprised me with miracles, such as my hopeless uncle becoming a Christian. But I would say, the fact that I became a Christian is a miracle because I know I’m such a sinner—a bad person—always trying to pursue my own desire. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you are holy, but it just means that you notice you are a sinner and that you have a powerful God to trust and pray. Although I’m not faithful at all, God is always faithful to me and merciful. I’m glad that I believe such a wonderful God who is a provider, healer, comforter and savior from my sin or weaknesses. It’s worthwhile trying this God! God bless you and I pray that you will experience God’s love and greatness! Just ask God to reveal Himself to you and HE WILL reveal Himself to YOU!
